    Rear Liftgate Top Trim

final outcome -- instead of painting, I used automotive vinyl wrap. My first time using wrap, so I have a bubble I wasn't able to get out... but good enough. This is close to a factory finish.

    Rear Liftgate Top Trim

My son says I'm a little psychotic since I decided to repair it! Here's what I did: * acquired a plastic welding kit and some Bondo * tacked everything with super-glue & baking soda * melted metal stitches into the cracks * went back and used ABS filter rod to fill in gaps (1 was quite large...

    Rear Liftgate Top Trim

@mrrsm - unfortunately no, that's not the part. The glass and hinge assembly are fine. There is a plastic trim piece that is screwed on one side and taped on the bottom. It holds the rear brake light. I removed the shattered remains, and have a good idea of how to get one off at a junkyard...

    Rear Liftgate Top Trim

Thanks all for the input. Like the first video @mrrsm posted, 10-15 years ago I had the hinge separate from the glass. I repaired it at the time one truck using a glass adhesive, and it has seemed to hold up over the years. GTK that you can used JB Weld too. IIRC, the tube of glass adhesive was...

    Rear Liftgate Top Trim

Hi Folks! Happy almost Christmas! Way back in August I prepped our 2002 GMC Envoy for my son to take to Rochester, NY while he's attending university. The truck has been great -- and earlier this week I flew up to co-drive back with him. When he picked me up for our ride, he described a...

PS Cooler - change or not to change?

I have to agree - the PS cooler is a no brainer. I picked one up on Amazon for $70. The hardest part is removing the front bumper cover - which honestly is pretty simple. Now the PS lines - they are another story. I'm glad I did them and I would do them again, but its not an easy job.

PS Cooler - change or not to change?

Gotcha - I was a leery of extracting the cup seals, and more importantly driving the new one in, blind, which is why I just reused the low pressure side's. No drips yet on my cardboard telltale. Thanks much again for your guidance and help!

PS Cooler - change or not to change?

Update - All done, but it was fight. Could not have done it without details on here, and a few informative YT videos. Some notes: - in the replacement lines I purchased, the high pressure line from the PS pump to the rack no-longer uses a cup seal, rather it uses an o-ring. This required...

PS Cooler - change or not to change?

Parts have arrived, and I'm going to dive in this afternoon. @Mooseman, following your other thread and with the parts in hand now, I think I understand what you were saying about the punch & flap - but want to confirm. Here is the part, which I believe is the low-pressure-line returning from...

PS Cooler - change or not to change?

Thanks @Mooseman - I’ve read your other thread now too. Not entirely clear what you mean by the punch and flap but bet it’ll make more sense when the parts show up. I’ll be tackling next weekend if everything arrives on time. As for PS fluid I have a bit Valvoline maxLife - is that ok to use?

PS Cooler - change or not to change?

Thanks much - looks like I can Amazon at least the cooler - the hard lines might be a RockAuto order. I'll admit being intimidated replacing the lines...they look like they snake quite a few places, and there is definitely corrosion where they cross the drivers-side-shock-tower. @Reprise - I...

PS Cooler - change or not to change?

I've been going through our much loved 2002 GMC Envoy w/120000 miles on it, addressing issues that I can find in advance of my son taking it back to college. The Envoy has lived its entire life in Maryland, and mostly been garaged --- but it is almost 22 years old now and showing some age. My...

    SOLVED! Clunking from rear end

Folks, declaring this problem SOLVED! Loose swaybar link on the driver's side - fix was to tighten and thread lock the ball joints --- did both sides. Incidently, both were accessible without needing to jack or remove tires. Thank you to @mrrsm, @Mooseman and @TollKeeper - really appreciate the...

    SOLVED! Clunking from rear end

UPDATE: May have found it This morning I had the opportunity to put some miles on the Envoy with my father and his bionic hearing aids. Over the course of about 25 miles we determined the clunk occurred with higher frequency on left turns, typically on accel. Upon returning and parking, Dad...
