It could be the cam phaser itself. Just curious. How many miles on the truck? Do you run synthetic oil? Have you ever used an engine cleaner (added to oil temporarily). My P0014 went away after running Mobil 1 High Mileage for about 1000 miles. No kidding..

Awesome work. I am curious what you did with the inside of the doors. I have the same situation on my 02 and would like to tackle it before it gets worse. I just keep spraying it with silicone lubricant hoping that will slow down the rust a little. :undecided:

Does it have full power? I ask because my P0171 was the result of a clogged cat. After replacement, it felt like I gained 100HP.

To share your pain, my 02 goes in for a tranny rebuild tomorrow. 166k, but toasted because the tranny lines rusted through and it basically ran dry. Have the shop check your lines while they have it! I would hate to see a new tranny go up in smoke because the lines rusted. I doubt they would...
