I have been getting both PO171 and 174 codes on my 02 Avalanche 5.3 for a while now. Just been resetting the light but thought I better find and fix the problem. Am I looking at a bad o2 sensor here? Thanks!

Ended up being the inner race of the bearing right next to the pinion. Rollers and outer race looked perfect but the inner was shot. New pinion bearings and carrier bearings and it's FINALLY quiet!

Pulled the pot, right side bearing is pooched!

Anybody got an exploded view of a rear end from a 2002 Avalanche? Mine is a 3.73 posi. Gonna have to pull it out and look for a bad bearing. Just need a little guidance! Thanks!!

I believe U joints are all good. Got the rear dif cover off and crown and pinion gears look real good but I can see some movement on the right side bearing when I put a bar under the crown and apply a little pressure. Nothing on right side. Trying to find some specs now on what play should be...

Had the top plug out, no problem, fluid is up, and blue! I'll visit the GM dealer in the morning and get some new stuff. Front U joint is pooched, I'll let you know if this fixes the noise!

287000 Kilometers, no history on front dif or TC. Changed the rear dif last spring. Don't think it's exhaust, too high pitched, sounds like a bearing issue.

I disconnected my battery and jumpered in a booster battery and it started and behaved fine. Reconnected the factory unit and the same hiccups all over again. Bought and installed a new one and all is good!!!

Makes sense! Do you know the direction of flow? Is the hot oil going into the bottom or top of the radiator??
