    Saab 9-7x AWD problems

SaabDriver, That dull thump when stopped could be the splines on the drive shaft are dry and need some grease. What you may be hearing is the spine shaft sticking as it is trying to slide back together as the vehicle settles after you stop. Instead of a smooth fluid motion it sticks then slips.

Slow tranny response from a stop

Transmission fluid does expand with heat. Maybe a little low? That's to only heat related thing I can think of.

    XUV air supension question

Our 2004 Rainier started dropping in the rear overnight. I'm not sure if the airbags were the originals or not. We bought it in 2010. I ended up just going ahead and replacing both bags. If I remember I got a pretty good deal directly from Arnott Industries on their replacement bags. Neither of...

Slow tranny response from a stop

Our 2004 Rainier started acting similar to what you describing. Ours turned out to be a bad CPAS (Camshaft Position Actuation Solenoid). Look between the power steering pump and the engine right behind the upper radiator hose. You should see an electrical connector. That is the CPAS. Unplug it...

    Transfer case fluid change interval

We don't have that option with the Rainier. It is Full Time AWD. That probably explains the quick wear on the fluid.

    4x4. Different tire sizes

Good point on the traction control. Our 04 Rainier doesn't have that so it never entered my mind. I know with the AWD on the Rainier you REALLY don't want to throw even a SLIGHTLY different sized tire on it or it starts doing weird stuff!

    4x4. Different tire sizes

The transfer case would probably take the brunt of the abuse. The uneven distance traveled for each axle would most likely eat the clutches up in short order in 4 wheel drive. If you kept it in 2 wheel drive "Theoretically" you should not have a problem but I wouldn't do it for long especially...

    Transfer case fluid change interval

Before I realized how short the life of this fluid was ours started shuddering at low speeds sort of like the transmission slipping. When I drained the fluid it looked like old dishwater. We had only put about 20000 miles on it since we bought it. It's not that hard to change and not that...

    Easy replacement or wiring issue?

It's been a while since I dug into this stuff. School was 34 years ago and I don't often stray into theory anymore. My job doesn't require me to use ohm's law and joule's law on a regular basis it just requires me to understand their principles. Joule's Law for Direct current The most general...

    Easy replacement or wiring issue?

Perhaps I oversimplified it. Loose connections when vibrated will cause arcing which draws more current which causes heat and melts things. I see it a lot fixing machine tools. Vehicles see a lot of vibration also. Sitting still is a lot different than going down the road.

    Easy replacement or wiring issue?

Also any kind of loose / bad connection can cause excessive current draw and cause enough heat to melt plastic. I just went through this on our microwave oven. A loose spade connection to a thermostat overheated due to excessive current draw and melted the plastic housing around it and ruined...

#5 misfiring again, now also under acceleration.

Word to the wise. Stick with the Stock GM part. #12615873. GM Parts Direct: Your direct source for Genuine GM Parts usually has very good pricing. I read quite a few horror stories about using the aftermarket replacements for the CPAS. Good Luck!

Any opinions on Bridgestone & B.F. Goodrich tires

Our vehicles have all had the Dueller Alenza's. There a good all around tire. My old work truck had them and they did well in Erie, PA in the winter time. Lots of snow in that area. They also get a good bite in the rain. I have Goodyear Silent Armor's on my Jeep Wrangler. I've been extremely...

Any opinions on Bridgestone & B.F. Goodrich tires

We've had Bridgestone Dueler's on several SUV's and have be quite pleased with them. Been a lot of years since I had B.F. Goodrich on anything I owned. Costco usually has some good deals on Dueler's if they're in your area.
