I used to hate Fords, and heard the tale about how GM had to bail Ford out by giving them the idea of "porcupine heads" staggered head valves because if Ford sank, fear of GM monopolizing the auto industry. I hope I don't get hate mail, but I respect Fords advancements in reliability.

Thanks MRRSM. My nutshell mind is gonna implode. How is that translated in layman's language? I grasped 75% of it. So am I to understand that in an inline engine, it has no offset, and on a V-8, it is offset so that on the power stroke, the piston and skirts are thrust towards the outer "V"?

There has been a question that has bugged me since I was a young motor head! Regarding the offset placement of the wrist pin in a "V" type gasoline engine; In relation to the piston and connecting rod, is it offset to place more pressure on one side of the wall to prevent chattering and wear...

Hopefully it'll fall off as I am driving, then I won't have to go through the horror!

I made a small square cut near the upper radiator neck so the shroud would be able to clear and lift, courtesy of a guy on YouTube! I used a short chain link bolted to one of the four water pump bolts and the other end of the chain had a long screwdriver stuck through it to a metal bracket top...

I believe after 2008 GM went back to the thermal clutch, but search GMTNation for the answer.

I highly recommend changing the fan clutch with an original AC Delco unit with the new pump. I bought a new fan clutch and it was an after market and didn't work right. I sent it back and got a thermal clutch (mechanical) rather than the electro-viscous clutch (computerized) and had PCM of NC...
