OK, With the front tires off the ground I can turn either wheel and the other wheel turns in the opposite direction. This is normal? i guess.

    AWD problems presist!

Thanks for all the help, I'll try to answer everything. 1. ABS light is off, disconnected the battery, reconnected and test drove it and it has not returned. Hopefully it was as "hockeyman" said and was triggered due to the tire not spinning. A friend thinks that with all four tires off the...

    AWD problems presist!

Ok, So there is no abnormal noise from the front differential, and the cv shaft, although feels like its engaged, doesn't seem to be binding up. Bench tested the TC motor and it seems to turn as it should. New development, when up on the jack stands testing it out again, all tires except for...

    AWD problems presist!

Ok, so I removed the TC motor, drove to town no problem obviously rear wheel only, on the way home it started acting like it was locking up again! dont know why because the motor isn't even attached. J-bone, I will check calipers in the AM, I'm embarrassed to say, I'm not sure what a CV shaft...

Adding air to rear suspension when compressor fails?

Well got it home, was quite the ride. For the record, you can't just add air through the valve in the back. On a positive note after having a quick look I noticed the fuse was blown, perhaps the compressor is still good and there is just a short in the wiring. That would be a plus!

Adding air to rear suspension when compressor fails?

Yeah, I was hoping I could just add air there but like you I'm not sure if the system has some sort of check valve to prevent it. Oh well, guess Ill give it a try when I pick it up, cant hurt anything. Cheers

Adding air to rear suspension when compressor fails?

Hey guys, Just bought a 2002 Bravada for parts, the rear air suspension is done (compressor wont come on) so its sitting on the frame. I need to drive it 45 minutes to get it home, anyone know of an easy way to add air to get the thing off the frame? I'm prepared to drive it as it sits but...

    Transmission pan removal 5.3L

Tried that with my first attempt, no dice, although mine only had 2 bolts. Still couldn't get it. Went out and had another look today, did some measuring. looks as though it only has to drop 1/2" to 3/4". Only way I can see is to remove the three bolts in front of the cat at the manifold on...

    Very Noisy AC Compressor

That's the size I bought for my 2004 Rainier 5.3, not sure if they differ by year. I wasn't sure when I picked mine up either, as I recall from reading the post attached to the directions given on the old site I think most were this size. Sometimes you just have to play the odds.

    Transmission pan removal 5.3L

Thanks guys, Interesting, I tried to remove it once, hence the broken bolt. And yes it was messy tilting it every which way I could and still I couldn't get it to go low enough to clear the 1st and 2nd actuator dome inside the tranny, pan kept hitting the cross member for the exhaust.

    Very Noisy AC Compressor

I hammered mine in as in the instructions provided by the link on the old site. (actually, once the old bearing was out, I put it on top of the new one, and used it to hammer the new one in) The fan, I used a large crescent wrench and sledge hammer, took a few good whacks, you have to shock it...

    Very Noisy AC Compressor

Yup, that's the instructions I followed, definitely doable on the 5.3 as mine is living proof:biggrin:

    Very Noisy AC Compressor

I too just went through this, I have a Buick Rainier 5.3, everything went sort of well, I removed the fan blade and shroud to provide much more needed space, I'm in Ontario, the bearing cost me 35.00 bucks. As Paul Bell said, I too had trouble removing the snap ring, you need a mirror to see it...

    Transmission pan removal 5.3L

Hey guys, Anybody got any tricks-of-the-trade to removing the exhaust bolts so the tranny pan can be removed? Well thought GM, well thought! The truck is an 04 and I don't think the exhaust has ever been touched, I heated the bolts and tried to remove them but got a little nervous as they...
