    Which wheels spin when?

Question, when you had it in 4wd, did the one rear wheel spin relativity double that of the fronts? If so, either something on the wheel that is not spinning is dragging - wheel bearing, disc brake, or perhaps the parking brake. That dragging may well be the source of the noise you're...

NEED HELP Stalling coming to a stop

Good Day, Two comments: first: the O2 graphs look spot on for the upstream, upstream should rhythmically cycle between near 0 and 1V, very close to a sine wave. Downstream should be fairly steady at .6-.8V if the Cat is working as intended. second: Your 4.2, like mine, has very low...

Instrument Cluster ODO and PRND... Blank, needles and other indicators ok

@Mooseman Thanks for the black marker tip -- that worked perfectly on toning down the brightness. I wouldn't have thought of that - too simple. I did the marker trick while I was replacing all the stepper motors, went from X15s to X27s; I'm betting that the cluster is original from 2002 - so...

Instrument Cluster ODO and PRND... Blank, needles and other indicators ok

Night photo - and yes, this is just about as dim as I can make them; I'm thinking I might need to put some dark film over the LEDs to tone it down just a bit. The picture is a bit washed out, the green dials are bright green and the red needles are as well. (and yes, the airbag system is...

Instrument Cluster ODO and PRND... Blank, needles and other indicators ok

Well, the good news is reflowing the solder on the board fixed the VFDs, and I replaced the backlights with these easy LED replacements (Amazon: White LED 12v 4.7mm). Just made them about 3mm off the board and bent the leads into L shapes, snipping off the extra - easy. 20m job. I did aim...

Instrument Cluster ODO and PRND... Blank, needles and other indicators ok

@azswiss Thanks for the quick reply. Probably a good time to get in there anyway, I think I'm down to 2 working backlight bulbs; maybe three. Silly side question, the IPC is the record for the Odometer? not the PCM? And will it keep logging miles in this state? [I ask cause I'm not...

Instrument Cluster ODO and PRND... Blank, needles and other indicators ok

Oh boy, another day, another Envoy Challenge! :stars: So, 50mile ride south, no issues, stop to see my Mom for an hour or so after meeting a client, then head home. My folks driveway is heavily shaded by trees and buildings, so I'm used to the headlights coming on even with bright sunshine...

What did you do to your GMT today? [Part II]

    @Mooseman BWD - exactly.

What did you do to your GMT today? [Part II]

Good question, what was before I was keeping all the paperwork for the Voy; but I put in one from Advanced Auto with a limited lifetime warrantee - it was three letters starting with a B. And it was exact, even to the green paint mark on the side of the electrical housing.

What did you do to your GMT today? [Part II]

First - What a day ! Took the Envoy in the shop to change oil and front struts. New oil & filter, and strut change took about 1hr 45m (two of us). I think the hardest part was getting the old strut out of the fork. I should have changed those struts ages ago. Wow what a difference; and I...

Solved my CRAPPY MPG's, Spoiler Alert it was the COIL PACKS

@Lckent48 2002; in 10k miles of tracking fuel mileage; not once have I gotten better than the 17 - but as low as 10.4 in Jan (oxygenated fuel sucks). Hmm... for a guy who works from home, I can't believe I've managed 10k since Oct 2021.

What did you do to your GMT today? [Part II]

Took a (very large) chunk of road concrete to the P/S headlight, fractured the poor thing - I'm just glad it wasn't the windshield! I saw it pop up from a semi-trailer tire in front of me, too much traffic to avoid it completely. Anyway, got my headlight assemblies earlier today, and swapped...

Solved my CRAPPY MPG's, Spoiler Alert it was the COIL PACKS

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot! I mean holy crap - my BEST tank was 17MPG which is an outlier from my usual fill-ups. My overall average is 15MPG, with 15.6 for my last tank. I figure that the 17 was a "pump cutoff early last fill" error. But you mean to tell me that 20MPG with the 4.2L is even...

SOLVED! Battery Drain related to Passenger Front Door Module

Hi Everyone, I thought I would give an update on this problem. Finally located the draw to a specific module -- the Passenger Front Door module. After being replaced several times by "newer" part numbers, which would work for about a month or so then stop; I found on e-bay the exact same...

SOLVED! 2002 Envoy 4wd SLE with weird intermittent electrical issues

So, I know it's been a real long time since my original post; insert work excuses (though true). Still I wanted to bring some closure to the thread. I did indeed replace the ignition switch module ($14 on RockAuto), and took about 15min to install it (14 of that was just getting the trim...
