So I had a misfire, hooked up the scanner and it was our favorite P0300...went through the steps to weed out the culprit, good ol PITA to get to #6...Water, about 1/2 an inch, had to replace the coil...funny thing, it had never happened until now, 10 years later.. Last Friday we had heavy rain...Saturday, I didn't drive... Sunday I did, and bam, rough idle, and flashing SES.... Did some research here on GMTNATION and the following happened [emoji12] I cleaned the area very good before applying, I had not seen many pictures, so I thought I would upload some, this is kinda like the fix that GM came up with... There was a small gap between the seal and the hood before this, now there isn't ... ...20150517_183706.jpg20150520_215457.jpg20150520_215505.jpg20150520_215527.jpg20150520_220836.jpg20150520_220841.jpg20150520_220850.jpg20150520_220854.jpg20150520_220904.jpg20150520_221010.jpg20150520_221122.jpg20150520_221031.jpg20150520_221120.jpg

seems like your issue isn't necessarily that but more of with the seal that makes the hole water proof. You can buy a new seal for the coil but with you buying a new one, it should have come with one. Still a good write up on your fix.

Coupla thoughts; my coil pack did not come with a new seal, but they all looked ok. Number six is hard to get at and may not have been snugged down,

I bought a set of 6 AcDelco coils off of ebay last year because 2 coils went a few weeks apart, still have 5 new ones, as I had some used ones from junk yard...

:undecided: Now that I think about it, I think I have a roll of similar sized foam tape laying around. This might be a good preventive measure to take before my seal fails. Especially in light of all the rain we've had the past 2 weeks.
