    Front Actuator/ TCCM fun......

Well, now that I have a Tech 2, I played around with this and got the codes. Had a ton of old stuff in history, but the only current fault is the following: C0379 Front Axle Control Circuit Malfunction Using the Tech 2's special functions, I have verified that all functions of the switch work...

    Engine Tick/Knock 2005 97k Miles

Welp, got around to pulling the belt off this thing to let it run for 30 sec without the ancillaries spinning, and the sound is the same. Definitely coming from the motor, and definitely sounds like a rod knock, but the oil analysis would seem to rule that out. So, what else could be making...

Replacing splined disconnect with AWD part?

Ooooops, yes, I meant actuator motor. I just found the thread on welding the outer gear to the collar, and removing the fork, and leaving the actuator motor in place to seal the case, thus achieving more or less the same end result. As I just bought a Tech 2, I can now figure out why my...

Replacing splined disconnect with AWD part?

What's involved in this? I have no doubt that the part physically bolts right up, but how do you keep the TCCM happy, when it has now lost the encoder motor and its associated feedback? I suppose you could just leave it plugged in and zip tie it up and out of the way to keep the TCCM happy...

    Fan clutch and PCM programming

I thought about going the e-fan route, and I might consider it if I actually drove this thing more and/or had a nicer example of one. Mine is an 02 with 115k on it, but being that it was owned by a chick before me, isn't in the best shape and has been neglected a bit. I've been going through...

    Transmission

+1 on not being rude, but if you don't know where the transmission is you are in WAY over your head on this. It's a dirty, slimy, sh$tty job, and if someone was willing to do it properly for $150 and use good quality fluid, that's worth its weight in gold.

    Fan clutch and PCM programming

I shot an email out last night, but no response as of yet. I'd imagine that their tunes incorporate the latest of whatever GM has done on these things, as well as the other improvements. Based on what others have said, I'm pretty sold on the whole thing.

    Fan clutch and PCM programming

So, while I am swapping out the water pump next week, I am doing the fan clutch as well, to the newest version of the OEM clutch. I understand that a PCM update is ideal along with the new clutch, but is there the ability to get a new flash from PCM4LESS that has the new fan clutch...

    Engine Tick/Knock 2005 97k Miles

Oil analysis is of indescribable value when it comes to knowing what's going on inside your motor. If you're at all curious, send a sample in and see what you get back.

    Front Actuator/ TCCM fun......

Happened across an attractively priced Tech 2 scanner, and picked it up. Figured this will certainly make narrowing down all these little issues a WHOLE lot easier. Haven't decided yet if I'm going to sell the Tech 2 after I'm done with it, or add it to my collection of VW/ Audi, Porsche, and...

    Engine Tick/Knock 2005 97k Miles

The "dieseling" sound is piston slap in these things, and while a better oil may help somewhat, it's just caused by poor clearances. You're not going to hurt anything by doing a flush (if you do it properly), IF you don't have heavy accumulations of crap in the motor. I'm going to run 1000...

What is the benefit of a G86 Limited Slip Differential?

The torque split in an LSD depends upon many things: clutch pre-load, clutch plate material, ramp angle, etc. Locking diffs lock 100% once enough RPM difference has been ached between the wheels to lock the diff up, and their engagement is very abrupt. Locking diffs are preferable in off...

    Engine Tick/Knock 2005 97k Miles

Welp, got around to changing the oil in this thing, and got the analysis back (see attached). No lead, so that should certainly rule out rod knock or anything else bearing related. The high aluminum and iron could potentially be from piston slap/ scuffing. No chromium, which would indicate...
