Half shaft removal damage - Do I need to replace it?

I was attempting to remove my L/F half shaft using the 2' rebar and large hammer method, but unknowingly positioned the rod on the "cap" of the tripod, which gave me a better angle, but resulted in the cap popping off exposing the inside of the tripod. It was filled with grease, and looked good - nothing broken or cracked, but now I'm faced with a decision to put it back together (I may have to replace the boot), or buy new. Any thoughts?

If it goes back together good, I would try to run it.

If the boot is OK, use a large hose clamp to hold it to the joint.
