Heated Mirrors ?

They are plug and play. Heaters come on with the rear window defogger switch.

Do all power mirrors have heat? I should have looked a little longer a few months ago when I bought the amber turn signals covers, would have been cheaper and easier to just swap them out. :headbash:

For the longest time I thought my 2005 Envoy did not have heated mirrors. Last winter much to my surprise after 7 years of ownership I noticed the frost on the mirrors melting while the rear defrost was on. Turns out they were standard but don't have the heated mirror symbol. Don't know if they were dropped from 2006 models.

Need to go check my fuses. My 05 Envoy Denali had a broken rear defroster when I bought it (patched with the kit from the VatoZone). Neither my mirrors or rear window defrost :(

If i recall correctly from an earlier topic the wiring for both the heat and the turn signals is in the doors just not used with the non heat/turnsignal mirrors right?

I don't think mine have the symbol either, but the previous owner put wide angle spot mirrors towards the outside of the mirror so if mine did have a symbol it would be hidden I suppose.

Correct. It was probably cheaper for GM to use the same wiring harness on all the models and just change the mirrors than to have multiple wiring harnesses for all the different option packages. Which is also why the fuse box comes preloaded with every fuse for every option, regardless of whether you have the options or not. Means you may have a few extra spares

RPO codes for heated mirrors before I head out for a drive? Lol. Rear Defroster eh? :undecided:

Update: I have RPO code DS3 which I believe is a heated mirror option on my '05. Now to test it because I already got this far.

That's correct. GM threw us a bone with the turn signal support as well. Plus cruise control, which activates simply with a new stalk.

Nice! So off to ebay i go to get some mirrors with turn signals and heat!

Oh reallly now? Such as the aforementioned wiring for OE fog lights between the front fuse box and switch. From my understanding you can just plug in a stock headlight switch with fog light wiring and run wire from the terminals in the front fuse box to the lights of your choice...and i believe some BCM programming is involved there as well. What else may i have extra fuses for but are not in the truck? Im seeing potential for power points for other stuff if that is the case...:wootwoot:

What you can do to test if your car can support heated mirrors is to hit the rear defrost button and listen for a click in your doors. The click in the front doors when you engage and disengage the defroster is the relay that operates the heater of the mirrors. I have my drivers side mirror with the symbol on it and my passenger doesn't have it plus I think my passenger one is aftermarket because the plastic on part of it is rougher and faded no matter what I polish it with. The heater works off the parts inside the power lock/window switch in the doors since the connection for the mirrors is on that and the main harness for the doors electronics is at that big harness that connects to the switches.

I put the spot mirrors on my truck and I do not recall seeing the symbol on either mirror because I was thinking how nice it would have been to have heated mirrors. Turns out, I do.

I don't hear any noise when I activate my rear defrost, and I have no idea how to even check to see if you have that option...other than waiting for a frost to build on the mirrors.

I bought a set of power rear view mirrors on ebay for my '03 Envoy and they came with the heat and turn signal options. I have to say that the heat DOES work, it's just slow to melt anything on the glass. It usually takes about 4-6 minutes just to start seeing any minor results. My wife's Accord melts snow/frost/ice away (on the rear view mirrors) within a matter of a minute or two. All in all though, I'm happy with them.
