Long time no post- I am having a problem with the heating/cooling unit display/system in my vehicle. First noticed it while driving at night about a month ago but the display will flash off (no lights) then turn back on randomly. The problem is intermittent but would like to get this figured out before the winter sets in and i need a reliable system. I'm not sure what it is, my first guess would be something fuse related. Anyone have similar problems?

Thanks!

Assuming you have the digital display, a fuse problem would take out many other indicator lights. Assume this is the only one affected?

The display backlighting is a high voltage plasma unit, and the power supply is self-contained. Recommend buying another on Ebay.

Would it be related if I reported the lights on the buttons below the digital display do not work as well? or could that just be attributed to burnt lights? It seems to only happen when I have the heat on 90 degrees for an extended period of time.

Have you taken the module out of the dash to plug in the connector again, to try to clean up the contacts? The button lights are fed by a dimmable lamp bus, and if that control or fuse was bad, you'd be losing more lights than just the HVAC module.

Personally, leaving the controls to 90 degrees for an extended length of time drives me sweating from the vehicle, but I can see doing it if ones fan clutch was dead and I needed extra radiator cooling.

I'll pull the module out and clean it up with some cleaner this weekend.

The 90degrees is a little unusual, in the northern fall evenings while i drive home i like to drive with the windows down but that is too cold with the wind so i blast the heat and put the windows down. It's a little strange but has worked in the past.

This project fell by the wayside. Is there a guide to how to remove the panels so that I can get to the unit?

Also I just realized that the vents have started to stay on even when the vehicle is shut off completely and the door has been open..
