Hi Everyone,
Does any one else have problems with there keyless fob. Ever since i owned my TB i have to be standing right next to my truck and press the unlock button multiple times for it to respond. I have repalced the battery in the fob but didn't help. Has any one else had a simular issue?

No i haven't. I'm not sure how to reset it. I just donloaded a manual from mooseman i believe is his name. It tells you how to do it on a 04. Not sure if it will work on mine since i have a 05.

Can remember exactly but Google it or look up on YouTube, it's something along the line of hold down lock button cycle the key twice. Should register the remote.

Please correct me if I am not understanding you correctly. You stand close enough to your TB that you can touch the truck and instead of putting the key in the key hole and opening the door you keep pressing the button on the fob when it does not open the first time?

Usually i'm walking right by the motor or couple feet away it will reach. If i'm standing 10 feet away it will not reach. I have redone the programming but it didn't help any for distance.

Check the proximity of the tailgate module, that is where the receiver is.

I had a similar fob for a '96 Camaro I once owned, and it was also acting up -like you've described. I replaced the battery and it still didn't want to work. I then took it apart and found that the contacts were excessively dirty, so I took it apart, cleaned the black rubber contacts on the back of the rubber insert and the contacts on the small circuit board with some rubbing alcohol on a small rag, then re-assembled. Worked like new again.

Couldn't hurt.

Also, while having a fresh battery in the fob may increase range some small amount, the DIC (if equipped) will actually tell you when the battery's low (fob detects it and forwards the information to the vehicle)

Try putting the fob on the bottom of your chin and hitting the unlock. That is usually good for another 15-20ft

Did some testing last night and found out if i'm standing behind my truck i can unlock it about 40 feet away. If i'm in front of my truck i have to be standing almost right by it and the remote pointed at the steering wheel to get it to unlock.

I would try cleaning the fob. I ended up replacing mine, one worked fine the other had a similar issue.

I dunno, sounds to me like the "tennis ball door unlock." Who ya gonna call? Mythbusters!

It works, I have used the trick myself.

Think I'll have to remember this when walking back with the wife. Add it to the list of useless trivial info I am full of :rotfl:

I took my key fob a part and cleaned with with rubbing alcohol and let it dry. It was pretty dirty but didn't make a bit of difference in the distance. I'm planning on getting a new fob to see if that will help with the distance at all.

I know this is six or seven months later. If you are still having your problem, I guess read on. You mentioned that you stood behind your truck and got a distance of about 40 feet but from in front of the truck you had to be standing next to it. Is there any chance that you have something that is blocking from the front of the truck? As far as I know, the receiver is in the tailgate section on the drivers side. By chance do you have a large sub woofer, or an amplifier, or something else between the left side of the tailgate and the front of the truck (other than the seats)? If you are getting 40 feet from the rear of the truck then it is doubtful it's the fob. Sounds like something is physically blocking the signal.
