Left front window stuck down!

Recently I rolled down my windows and when I went to roll the up the left front stuck about an 1/8th of the way up and I hear a grinding chunky clunky noise. I think its probably the motor but I am looking for confirmation before I buy the part and tear into it.

I'd pull the door panel first and get eyes on the situation. The cable could have become detached from the regulator, and the motor could be reusable.

I appreciate the help guys I just realized its the right side duh moment omg I have so much going on I dont need this lol but I called a junkyard and can get one for $25 off a low milage trailblazer so going with that if its the motor my sisters boyfriend is a mechanic he can look at it but not until next tuesday I just might go ahead and buy the part if the majority think the motor/regulator is the problem

Grinding and clunking is usually resolved by a mechanical fix, but not necessarily a replacement. Hate for you to buy anything until someone looks at the problem. In your case, maybe the $25 is worth having it on hand in case it does indeed need replaced.

It's the regulator most likely. As someone said, don't mess with the switch anymore and open up the door and pull it out. The cable may have just come loose from its mount, you just have to reattach it if that's the case.

I just did the rear passenger side regulator on mine and if I hadn't kept trying to raise the window I could've fixed the cable and been done with it.

Yeah I have left it alone I had to plastic up the window because its calling for chances of rain for like the next 8 days but thanks I emailed the junkyard where I am getting the part from to see if I dont need it I can take it back I am hoping that I can just "put it back on track" as to say but in case I can not I want to have the parts on hand to do the job then.

That's why I posted the new part. If he was playing with the switch the cable is most likely kinked and wrapped up tight. It takes a higher lever of mechanical experience to repair a regulator (which is what I would likely do) than to just replace it. It will be much easier and less frustrating to buy and install a new one. I would not buy a used regulator the plastic bushing weaken with age and it will likely fail soon.

I know these parts well. Really really well... Once you hear the grinding sound, they are done. The grinding is the cable crossing out of its groove in between other cables and the drum housing, resulting in what we call a bird nest. They can be untangled by the foolish, but the grinding you hear are the fine strands of cable kinking and fracturing. Once one of those fine cables break, the death watch has begun. The other problem you run into when trying to salvage a grinder is that the cable tensions often spike as the cable jams between the drum and the cover or motor, causing other regulator components to deform. Don't waste your time.

Yep my pass side did this too. Right before winter time last year. Cables come unwound or something when trying to go back up. I just took panel off had someone work switch while I got cable back on right track and slowly moved window by hand and switch to closed position. I then never put window back down.

I want to thank everyone for their input and recommendations. I have purchased the replacement part. Unfortunately since all my tools are in storage since my divorce my brother in law who is also a mechanic will be installing this for me this coming Saturday. I will let everyone know how it turns out thanks again.
