Took a heat gun to my bumpers to bring them back to black heres some pics...
Easy to do and makes a huge difference

That looks better than most trim restore compounds that I have used. Plus you do not have to worry about it washing/wearing off.

Thanks everyone. Yea, it is easy just time consuming. Some spots are hard to get to with a heat gun also.

How about some quick info - type of heat gun (1500w)???? How close to keep it to the plastic?? Remove heat - when plastic immediately returns to black?????

Did the same on my 2002 TB a while ago with amazingly good result. I used an ordinary 1500W heatgun on highest setting and experimented a little with distance and speed. It was a lot easier than i had thought.
Warning: Don't try the same method on the glass hatch handle! I tried, but Before the colour changed, the plastic handle started melting...
Still have left to do the floorboards, but my truck is so Dirty and i don't have the time to wash it this week

I did this too a few years ago, and most of the paint has come off. Recently, I tested a small area with the heat gun, and it looks wonderful. However, now I'm stuck trying to get the old paint off. Can't sand it, and i'm afraid to use any chemicals. Anyone have any thoughts?

I did the heat gun method as well, it worked great. The only problem I had was I accidentally slip with the gun and touched the bumper and left a mark. I didn't like it after that.

So in turn I decided to spray them with rubberized under coating. That was 5 months ago and it's still holding up great, no peel. Although they have faded some what from the original fresh spray look, I have been contemplating as to clear coat them or not. Only problem I have with that is, the clear coat may peel later on and clear coating them would take the rubbery traction away from them.
