Specs on my 'Voy

Can someone point me in the right direction? I have a 2004 GMC Envoy XUV SLT that I'm trying to order a new PCM for from a place in the US. They have a heck of a long order sheet, and I just don't know the answer to the questions. I have the VIN, obviously - can I not simply plug it in somewhere on this internet-thingy and find out what I need to know?
 
What specs are you after? There is the RPO codes in your glove box. What place are you ordering from? They may have a way to get the info for you as well.

  3. Intake Lift @.50
  4. Exhaust Lift @.50
  5. Cam lobe Sep Angle
  6. Cam Advance
  7. CID if Not stock
  8. Compression Ratio

Questions that I just do not have the answer for. I've sent a request to pcmforless, the company I'm dealing with. At your suggestion, I took a picture of the RPO codes - thanks for that information, I didn't know.

They told you that your 2004 Envoy is too old for a PCM tune? That makes no sense, their tune packages cover 2002-2008 for the TB/Envoy.
 
PCMofNC might be confused on what you are looking for. I just checked their site and it shows a tune package for the 2002-2005 TB/Voy. I would call them directly, 704-307-4227, and speak with Kelly or email them at sales@pcmofnc.com. Their order sheet is pretty simple to fill out as well.
 
'Simple to fill out as well'? I'm having a heck of a time decyphering the pcmforless order form. I'm not able to answer the questions, I don't have the technical knowledge. I've spent time online just trying to answer the 'rear end gear ratio' question.

PCMofNC's custom tuning order sheet is pretty basic. 90% of the questions will be "Stock" unless you have changed something.

If you look in your glove box, there is will a panel that lists all of the RPO codes for your vehicle. You can look up the list of RPO codes to figure out which gearing you have, but unless you have changed the gearing, that question can be left "Stock".

Also make sure you will out your vehicle information for the members to reference.
 
Just to be clear... Are Pcmforless and PCMofNC the same company?

I read a thread on the OS that was posted by Kelly from PCMofNC in April 2013 stating that they changed their name from PCM for Less to PCMofNC. This particular company is out of Mooresville, NC. I see there is another PCM for Less out of Stow, OH. Looks like it was a common name and they wanted to change to something else.

You might be talking to two different companies. Below is the link to the thread started by Kelly.

Dmanns67 - the tuning that pcmofnc offers is only for the i6 - I have a 5.3l v8 and they only tune 2005-2009, which doesn't make sense to me, bit that is the way they do it. That's why I was referred to pcmforless. I'm sensing a hesitance to deal with them - has anyone used their mail order services before?
 
Used them on other vehicle, not impressed w/service or the tune.. They seem to be OK for others here w/4.2 L engines.

Your 12586242 was only used 2 years on the 5.3 L for the Envoy/TB. In 05 the 5.3 went to the E40 (CAN) ECM/TCM setup. Most likely not a lot of demand for the 03-04 360 5.3 L product line tunes. However that PCM also was used in just about every 4.8/5.3/6.0 1500 through 3500 truck/SUV GM/Chevy/Buick drive-by-cable put out in 2004. And PCMONC does support them. Maybe just a business decision, or whoever you talked to was not the correct person. The 03-04 5.3 L Envoy is not listed on their web site so maybe that person was just reading the list.

Your first post said you were looking for a PCM, but this thread is tune specific. Are you looking for a PCM ??
 
Bobdec - yes, I'm looking for a PCM. In Ontario we have to do an etest in order to renew our plates - emissions test, in case you weren't aware. My Envoy failed, and after seeing two different mechanics it was determined that the PCM was the issue. This is the reason that I'm trying to order one.

I REALLY appreciate the information and I'm going to keep working on it. I hope that I can PM you if I have any other questions?

Ok that makes more sense now. I was wondering why you were having so many difficulties. It helps now that you have filled out your vehicle info. I was assuming you had the I6.

So, after 26-some emails, and research online for reviews, I've ordered a new PCM for my Envoy from PCMforLess. And the reason that I couldn't use PCM of NC is because I have the 5.3 V8 and they didn't buy the licensing rights for it because PCMforLess has that option. Will update once I have the part.

As PCM's very rarely go bad I'm intrested and it may help others to hear the details leading to the defective PCM analysis. Any DTC codes or other data would help.
 
Been a while since I updated this thread, don't know if anyone is even going to look at it. As it stands, I ordered the PCM and - that wasn't the problem. It's in a wire, somewhere, between the front and the back. Has something to do with the actuators for the pressure in the gas tank, mechanic is getting some strange readings on it. The check filler cap message comes on, same time every day, although lately it hasn't happened. Still have a $450 PCM/paperweight now that is tuned for better mileage and for 87 octane. Want to find out what is going on before I decide whether I'm going to install it or not. Have other issues with the &^%&*(%X##% truck involving the passenger headlight...

I know - that's a different thread.
