Somewhere I saw it was both an oil level and temperature sensor but it looks like it's only an oil level sensor. I couldn't find anything mentioned in my owners manual either.
Thank you for the feedback and the links all.
I have the adapter in the front in place and temporarily plugged until I decide on a gauge and mount. I have been looking for a blue tooth type...
From others here and on YT videos that have connected a mechanical gauge, pressures can go as high as 80 psi when cold and settle back down to 60 psi hot at driving RPM depending on how old and...
Finally adding a true oil pressure gauge. I don't want to run an oil line into the Envoy so am going with a wired one.
Would you go with a digital or analog style? What P.S.I. range? 2002 4.2
Hi Mooseman,
I did put an oil pressure gauge on it a few years ago when I first had the problem. It was a temporary hand held type that I ran the hose up to the windshield and could watch while...
I thought I had the problem solved. Berrymans crankcase soak, new pressure switch, Valvoline R&P. Etc.....I hadn't towed my 2000 lb trailer in two years.
With all of my driving to the desert...
Diagnosing a Fuel Pump begins with taking a Fuel Pressure reading as per:
...and continues with Dynamic Testing while the Fuel Pump is Running at Engine Idle and through Various RPM Ranges that...
If you do decide to go ahead with replacing the pump, it is strongly suggested to use only an ACDelco or Bosch (Bosch makes them for ACDelco so whichever is cheaper). Delphi pumps have been...
207k miles on what I believe is the original fuel pump. Envoy still running perfectly. No abnormal noise from the pump. Installed a new filter last year and everything looks good.
How long do...
Thanks for the replies all. Sorry Mooseman for the double post. I couldn't find the previous post this morning. I thought maybe it got lost. I didn't look in the technical section. 😃
The factory crimp on the cable end in pic #4 does not pass muster. I saw one like that recently and did a cut off of the eyelet and cleaned far back in the insulation and then crimped back with a...
Those side terminals were garbage when they introduced them in the 70's. Proof they were a failure is they are now back to top posts. Took them over 30 years to admit it.
I've been hearing about a fine screen that is under the oil pressure switch. While my Envoy is doing good after my new pressure switch, a Berryman's Crankcase soak, and running Valvoline Restore...
Old battery 5 years old finally gave up the ghost. What should have been a ln easy swap turned into a 3-4 hour ordeal.
The positive battery cable was replaced around 2.5 years ago. Brand new...
I am going to install the Firestone air bags inside my stock coil springs. 2002 GMC Envoy, 4x4. The instructions show the air lines going out of the bottom. I see that as a potential problem...
Probably not unless you start running a turbo or making tons of extra power. Watched a video from Atlas Industries and even they said that if it's properly maintained and not modified, the stock...
I'm seeing these supplemental oil feed line kits for my 4.2 Atlas. They take oil from accessory port in front by the oil filter and run it to the back of the block to add additional oil supply...
I'd try it in D and see how it acts. Probably will still need to downshift to 3rd going up grades or you notice it hunting between 3rd and 4th. Headwinds can also affect towing.
I guess it would depend on the terrain and gearing. If you have the GU6 gearing, I would tow in 3rd.
If you are noticing the transmission shifting more than it would normally, put it in 3rd.
I know everyone recommends towing in 3 rd for trailers in general. I recently purchased an older Seadoo and trailer. Combined Weight is at most 1300 lbs.
I have a PCM of N. Carolina auxiliary...
Just watched the video. I'm not too sure about the carb cleaner being sprayed all over stuff to find vacuum leaks. Wouldn't that be a problem on plastic and rubber parts?
I've always used a...
