Ok, if I had hair this darn TB would cause me to pull it out.

Last week fixed the P0014 and now my son was driving home from work and it through a P1516 code.

Its a 2002 with 178K.

He made it home and said it was running fine, didn't go into limp mode or anything. I have seen several posts with different solutions but not 100% sure where to start.

It has been very cold where he is. High temp was 2 degrees today (Unusual even for the mountains here in NC).

Not sure if the temps have had anything to do with it. Seems to start up fine so I don't think it is a low power issue. Unfortunately he is not the most mechanical of people and is very limited to tools so I will probably have to run up and do some testing. Any chance it was just a 1 time glitch due to the weather? I will have him clear the code and see if it comes back on tomorrow. Supposed to be a little warmer up there, maybe about 30-32.

I have heard it could be the connection to the throttle body, the throttle body itself, the gas pedal sensor, even the ignition switch. Not sure where to start other than making sure the connection is tight.

This is a code where the throttle position is not at the commanded position given by the computer. There are several causes to this code and sometimes it is accompanied by others. I had my own run in with this code with my '03. Does he have a Reduced Engine Power (REP) light with the check engine light? Some exploration with a multi-meter may be necessary to diagnose the issue if it is a continuing problem. My story is long about this issue, but if his truck is still driving fine, it would be a good time to check out the 5 volt reference and then look at the schematics and conduct a wiggle test of the system to ensure you do not have a wire breaking or loosening and causing this to happen occasionally.

That is some good info. No reduced power.

I hope everything keeps running for a couple more weeks. He is on spring break starting March 9th. I hope to get him to leave it here for that week he is gone and I can do some tests.
